The Science
It’s all a question of flavour and you won’t find a more intense or natural flavour than GelaRto gelato. Our authentic Italian gelato has a clean and intense flavour you simply won’t believe.
1. Ice cream contains ‘cream’ (obviously!) which has a high dairy fat content. Dairy fat has a strong taste which masks other flavours, so the dominant flavour of ice cream, regardless of what flavour it is claiming to be, is ‘cream’.
Gelato however, is made with fresh milk rather than cream. This means there is much less dairy fat in gelato so we can add fresh, natural ingredients and get a really intense flavor. Our fruit sorbets are made without any milk at all (0% fat) which makes enjoying a Gelato sorbet like eating fresh fruit! Delicious and healthy for everyone, including vegans!
2. Gelato is slow churned which means less air gets in the mixture. This makes gelato denser than ice cream and yet still taste ‘creamy’ without any cream being added. This is important to consider when comparing prices. Anything with ‘fresh air’ as a key ingredient, should always cost less.
3. Finally we make GelaRto gelato with Carob Seed Flour (or Carob Seed Gum) which is a natural product without gluten. That makes GelaRto the perfect choice for people with gluten intolerance.
